Billet aluminum coil plate to mount the Nissan VR38 R35 ignition coil to the 7M-GTE.

The Nissan GTR R35 VR38 ignition coils are a well proven solution for higher horsepower cars. Coils are NOT included with this kit. The Nissan part number is 22448-JF00B, the OEM supplier is Hitachi (part number IGC0079). We recommend buying the OEM Hitachi parts, as they are the exact same part as the Nissan, but at a lower cost.

This kit includes:

  • Billet aluminum, CNC machined coil mounting plate
  • 2x Custom CNC machined cylinder head plugs with mounting bosses. These plugs replace the two middle stock allen head plugs.
  • 6x Spacers to suit the short boots (see below)
  • All hardware to mount the coils to the plate, and the plate to the 7M-GTE cylinder head.
  • The coil plate and cylinder head plugs are black anodized.

This kit requires you to replace the stock coil boot on the R35 coil with a shorter NGK boot. The NGK part number is 58979 (CPB-GM006). They sell for under $10 each (you'll need 6) through various parts stores. If you choose not to replace the boot, the coils will sit above the valve cover, and you will have to source your own spacers and mounting hardware to attach to the cylinder head plugs. The internal thread on the plugs is M8.

You will need to be running a standalone ECU to run these coils, it will not work with the OEM 7M-GTE ECU. A wiring harness is NOT included with this mounting plate kit, but you can build your own harness by using Wiring Specialties WRS-VR38COIL-CON connector kit (you'll need 6, they retail for around $9 each). The OEM connector is a Sumitomo 6189-0779. Refer to your ECU wiring guide for connection diagrams.

This kit will not work with the stock intake manifold and throttle body, it is intended for use with a forward facing intake manifold (FFIM).

We recommend you install either our valve cover stud conversion kit, or your own low profile valve cover bolts such as button head or socket head cap screws. There is very little clearance in the plug valley, your stock rubber valve cover bolt washers may slightly touch the coil plate. It's a good idea to replace the stock bolts anyways, as they are notorious for losing torque and causing valve cover leaks.

The cylinder head plugs need to be sealed to the cylinder head. You can use an o-ring or RTV. If you don't seal these, you may get a leak into the plug valley.
