7M Crank Trigger Kit
7M Crank Trigger Kit
Couldn't load pickup availability
The 7M doesn't have a crank trigger from the factory, it uses the CPS to get the engine position. We wanted to come up with a design to mount a modern and accurate crank trigger that would be easy to install and wouldn't require a lot of fabrication or welding.
Our solution uses a bolt on sensor bracket that is threaded M12x1 for a ZF/Cherry-type crank sensor (ZF part number GS100502). The sensor mounting bracket is CNC cut from 1018 Steel, and then is cadmium plated.
The 12-tooth tone ring is laser cut from 0.080" steel, and is bare. The only welding that is required with our kit is that you will need to weld the tone ring to the crankshaft timing pulley. Refer to the instructions for welding details.
This crank trigger bracket will fit behind the stock damper or an ATI damper.
Please read through the instructions so you can understand the steps required to install our crank trigger bracket with the sensor. Welding is required to attach the tone ring to the crankshaft timing pulley: Instructions
The sensor is NOT included in this kit, but we suggest purchasing it from a verified online electronic parts seller (like Digikey, Mouser, RS Electronics) to make sure you don't get a knockoff. We can't provide the sensor due to export restrictions. Digikey Canada sells the sensor for approx CDN$51.
If you need a new crankshaft timing pulley, they are still available new from Toyota. Amayama in Japan has stock available, part number 13521-42020 for under CDN$100. This is the pulley that runs the timing belt, not the crank damper that drives the accessories.
We suggest sealing the end of the sensor with a neutral cure silicone such as Chip Quik Inc NCS10B-20G.
Made in Canada.
We are working on a cam gear trigger as well. We're hoping to have it available in the new year.
